Economy & Social

SOS Chrétiens d’Orient helps the poorest Christian of the East to find work in areas where unemployment is very high.

Thanks to solidarity loans at zero interest, people who wish to do so can obtain financial aid to start or restart an activity.

In terms of development aid, the association’s volunteers regularly call on local businesses to give back work and dignity to persecuted people.

The association only favours projects that are based on the capacities and means of local communities and authorities, in order to avoid any waste and to significantly reduce the dependence of beneficiaries on humanitarian aid. In this way, local actors actively participate in their own recovery and will be better able to cope with future crises.

The association also works to secure or restore churches destroyed by Islamists, such as in Aleppo, Syria. Based on its experience with the Christian populations of Iraq, Lebanon and Syria, SOS Chrétiens d’Orient strives to promote socio-economic opportunities for the weakened Christian communities. Particular attention is paid to local initiatives in order to encourage the emergence of a solid socio-economic fabric.

SOS Chrétiens d’Orient also participates in the implementation of large-scale agricultural projects that are essential for the economic development of towns and villages.
