Again today, the Christians of Egypt are victims of abuses, aggression, desecration of churches, segregation... and yet, the Coptic are the most important Christian community in the Middle East: according to the sources, they would be a Little more than fifteen million, between 15 and 18 % of the Egyptian population. Today, it is often difficult for them to build new churches and renovate the old ones. However, the Coptic don’t lose hope in the future and remain proud of their legacy.

In this dynamic, about a year ago, in the monastery saint Bishop in the heart of Wadi Natrun, was built a complex around the Coptic central papal library.

This site of more than four thousand square meters is a real place dedicated to Coptic spiritual, cultural and artistic richness! Among other things, it contains a museum, an outdoor auditorium, accommodation for guests, a church, conservation rooms...

Barbara Soliman, director of cabinet of Pope Tawadros II

What you're doing here is just and necessary. You help the Christian populations to stay in the Middle East.

To safeguard the priceless treasures of Oriental Coptic Christianity sheltered in the central papal library, SOS Chrétiens d’Orient will finance the renovation of multimedia, conservation and scanning rooms. In the medium term, SOS Chrétiens d’Orient intends to send volunteers to participate in the restoration of these treasures: manuscripts, icons, frescoes...

This complex, managed directly by His Holiness Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria, patriarch of all Africa and the siege of Saint Mark and his cabinet, aims to preserve and the radiate the spiritual art, culture and Coptic knowledge through the centuries. More than two thousand people can be welcomed for cultural and spiritual meetings. SOS Chrétiens d’Orient therefore hopes that this project will raise awareness of the Egyptian and world population in the history, culture, art and Coptic spirituality.

You too, participate to one of the greatest projects of the Egyptian Coptic Church, donate for the preservation and the radiation of Coptic Heritage!
